With over seven years of experience, Javan is a dynamic human rights advocate, coalition builder, and creative artist whose work sits at the intersection of justice, governance, and the arts. He brings strong experience in strategic coordination, cross-cultural communication, and youth empowerment, with a proven ability to convene diverse stakeholders and drive impactful campaigns, recognised for his leadership in grassroots organising, his ability to mobilise partnerships across local, regional, and global levels, and his unique use of art as a tool for social justice and solidarity.
As a former Steering Committee Member and Coordinator of the Missing Voices Coalition, Javan has been central in confronting enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and police brutality in Kenya. He spearheaded campaigns and events such as the Delayed Justice Conferences and the August 30th International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearances commemorations, creating platforms where victims, policymakers, and civil society could jointly demand accountability.
Additionally, he served in the leadership of Kenya's social justice movement. He also served in the steering committees of the Fight Inequality Alliance and the Young Advocates for Democracy, a global platform amplifying the voices of young leaders worldwide. He has worked with the UN and Commonwealth Youth and participated in numerous panels, international forums, and regional artistic platforms that bridge governance, human rights, and creative expression.
In addition, his artistic work spanning music, poetry, and performance has allowed him to champion justice narratives in innovative spaces, ensuring communities remain engaged and empowered. These roles, networks, and platforms collectively reflect his ongoing commitment to building inclusive movements that advance human rights, good governance, and youth leadership across borders.
